Regis Guerin practices civil litigation, with an emphasis on business and intellectual property litigation.  Specifically, he litigates a variety of business matters, including claims relating to commercial transactions, contract actions, shareholder disputes, LLC member disputes, copyright, patent and trademark litigation.  Mr. Guerin also drafts and reviews contracts and agreements for a variety of transactional matters, including the formation of corporations and limited liability companies, drafting and reviewing operating agreements, licensing agreements, leases, shareholder agreements, indemnity agreements and other business agreements.  Additionally, Mr. Guerin advises the firm's corporate clients on issues related to employment law and other labor issues.  A seasoned trial attorney, Mr. Guerin has litigated several cases to verdict as the first or second chair trial attorney.  He has also arbitrated and mediated a multitude of cases and is adept at positioning clients' cases in advantageous settlement positions where such a resolution is appropriate.
 
Professional Experience:
Prior to joining Wang, Hartmann, Gibbs & Cauley, Mr. Guerin worked as In-House Counsel for Honda North America, Inc. His responsibilities included managing product liability litigation and business litigation matters. Mr. Guerin has handled multi-million dollar claims against the company and directed Honda's outside counsel throughout all phases of litigation.  Mr. Guerin reviewed legal motions, briefs and discovery and made decisions on trial strategy.  While at Honda, Mr. Guerin was one of the attorneys responsible for Honda's E-Discovery system for implementation of litigation holds, tracking of such holds, document gathering, and hold releases.  Additionally, Mr. Guerin drafted and reviewed various agreements involving the distribution of Honda products. 

Prior to working at Honda, Mr. Guerin was a Senior Associate at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, practicing business, construction and commercial litigation. Mr. Guerin acquired significant experience with complex, multi-party litigation at Lewis Brisbois. Mr. Guerin litigated high exposure cases, including wrongful death cases, and complicated indemnity/breach of contract actions.  Mr. Guerin litigated several cases to verdict as the second chair trial attorney, including cases involving contract disputes, serious personal injuries and construction related cases.

Mr. Guerin started his legal career practicing with his father, John Guerin, an appellate specialist with approximately 48 published appeals.  While practicing at Guerin & Guerin, he handled three appellate matters (employment, civil rights and contract related), and has argued in the Court of Appeal on two occasions.  Additionally, Mr. Guerin tried two cases to successful results as the first chair trial attorney.  Mr. Guerin also litigated intellectual property matters, real estate related cases and also engaged in general business/contract litigation.
